Biography


Barbara has extensive experience in fundraising, board relations, and executive leadership in the nonprofit sector. Her career in Denver’s nonprofit community includes executive level positions at The Denver Foundation, the Denver Public Schools (DPS) Foundation, and Young Americans Center for Financial Education. At The Denver Foundation, she led a team of development professionals who created philanthropic partnerships with corporate, family, and individual donors to strengthen their philanthropic impact.

As CEO of the DPS Foundation, she engineered the turnaround of the Foundation’s fund development activities, helping raise support for the implementation of The Denver Plan, authored by then Superintendent, Michael Bennet. Through major-gift fundraising and new staff development efforts, and work with the board, Barbara dramatically increased revenues for district initiatives.

From her early years as marketing manager of a major telecommunications firm, Barbara has been charged with the development of new models, including: her creation of the first professional volunteer management program for Special Olympics Colorado, the funding and implementation of the Young AmeriTowne program at Denver’s Young Americans Bank, and her most recent work in innovation at The Denver Foundation. Barbara truly enjoys helping create and support new revenue streams to support community needs.

A Denver native, Barbara has been a longtime member of the Denver Rotary Club and is a founding member of B:CIVIC (Businesses Committed to Investing and Volunteering in the Community).
