Gretchen is a marketing and communications strategist with more than 12 years of experience in agency and in-house roles. She specializes in creating integrated campaigns for nonprofits and municipal governments and has extensive experience in the education, health, transportation, and community development sectors.
Gretchen has led communications programs for local and national organizations in Chicago, New Orleans, the District of Columbia, Kansas City, and Denver. Throughout her career, she has earned media coverage in more than 100 publications, such as The Washington Post, The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, CNN, MTV, and more. She has experience in nearly all aspects of marketing and communications, including strategy, tactical execution, measurement, and project management. She especially enjoys supporting emerging organizations in building their brands from the ground up by defining their unique identity and choosing the right tools to help them succeed.
Currently the founder of Buoy, an integrated marketing agency serving nonprofit and startup clients, Gretchen also serves as the director of marketing and communications of Raise DC, an education collective impact partnership based in Washington, DC. Her past clients and employers have included Chicago Department of Transportation, Alliance for Climate Protection, George Washington University, University of Kansas, U.S. Cellular, Rush University Medical Center, and Donate Life Illinois, among others. She is a member of the Colorado Nonprofit Association and the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network.
